Fat Loss And Apples And Pears I’m Sorry?
Tuesday, May 26th, 2009Many people want to lose weight these days. Obesity and being heavy has reached rampant proportions. There are many aesthetic reasons why individuals want to lose weight as they aim to look good and fit into their jeans but the most vital reason to lose weight is for health reasons.
We all carry our surplus body fat a little differently. One individual may have thunder thighs with a outsized butt and a smaller upper body so she is shaped like a pear, while the next individual will hold it all around the middle, in the abdominal region so that she is shaped more like an apple on a stick. The way we hold our fat contributes to a great extent to our good health.
Women who are pear-shaped and carry all of their spare weight in their butt and thighs have a health advantage over the women who are apple shaped. They may fight more with finding the clothes that fit and they may still have body image issues but they do not have the health tribulations that afflict the apple-shaped women. The fat that accumulates on your butt and your thighs is not inevitably a health problem.
On the other hand the fat that accumulates around the mid section puts the person at risk for such things as heart disease, diabetes and other health risks. The quandary is that the fat in the middle collects around the internal organs. This prevents their organs and their bodies from optimal purpose. Pear-shaped individuals do not have this same problem because none of the inside organs are found in the butt and thighs.
To find out is you are an apple-shape or a pear-shape you will need to compute the ratio of your waist to hips. Divide your waist measurement in inches by your hip measurement in inches. If the resultant ratio is 0.8 or more you are shaped like an apple, but if it is more than 0.8 or less then you are shaped like a pear. An illustration would be a 28-inch waist divided by a 38-inch hip gives a ratio of 0.73 or a pear-shape while that same hip measurement combined with a 32-inch waist is a 0.84 or an apple shape.
While a pear may grieve her big butt and thunder thighs it is more often than not more of a body image predicament, while the apple can be facing some very crucial health risks. Exercise and a wise diet are imperative if you are apple shaped and losing even as little as 2 inches off your waist can prevent your health risks. If you are an apple, augment your cardio and concentrate on consuming a diet rich in fiber by consuming more fruits, vegetables, beans and legumes, and lean protien sources such as fish and skinless chicken.
If you are an apple shape however, you do have an advantage in the weight loss department. Spare fat around your middle region tends to come off much sooner and easier than the fat in the butt and thighs. Butt and thigh fat is much more stubborn and it takes much more persistence to get it to finally come off.
The type of body that you have is not something that you can control but you can do whatever is needed to lose the excess fat or even better, of course, is to not gain it in the first place.
